Things we've done but won't admit to...

Updated: 10/03/1999

Here's a few of the more important meetings we've had. That's not to say our other meets are crap :) It's just that the other meetings are extremely useful 'help!' or fun nights, which you probably wouldn't be interested in.....(but there are some pics available on the black market for a small fee...hush hush) :)

We have done stuff since March honest, some updating to do me thinks:)

Friday 5th March

One of the many orgies of problem-solving question & answer sessions that we have alot. Chaos, basically :)

Friday 5th February

Rob and I (Gary) wowed everyone with a Candy Factory Pro thang, showing just how easy to use, fast and snazzy it is. It's not just brilliant for the web either, we've done cd-covers and labels, birthday cards etc too.... just buy it :)

Friday 4th December

Internet night....trying to get more members interested in getting on the net, by showing them what it's good for (reading the SEAL site :), how easy it is to connect, and how much it costs. We'll have a more in depth article in Clubbed for issue 3. Suffice to say we were surprised at the excellent value of the Netconnect 2 package, even though Ibrowse and Miami are are fave bits of kit. Freeserve is free (but don't use their helpline), Demon is good, Wirenet is the best, and the Pace 56k modem is a speed beast. We also had Richard Blair from Power Amiga User Group (Portsmouth), viewing our nuttiness.... he survived, allegedly :)

Friday 18th September

We had our own mini boot sale, with legitimate software and hardware being given a new lease of life. Very successful :) People were slightly put of with the view of Nick Bigadyke naked holding a sign saying "all offers considered" :) Mike Hunt's guffaws could be heard far and wide :)

Friday 21st August 1998

Nick & Barry showed us the ins and outs of Scala. Version MM300 was free on CU Amiga cd #19 (February '98). It's very powerful, but easy to use. Sicky & Rhino were showing off their ppc tower beasts (A4000 & A1200 respectively). Wow ! They barely got out of there alive :) They showed us how PPC Quake flies ! (bastards). :)

Friday 17th July 1998

At this meeting we were pleased to welcome a number of people who were interested in joining SEAL, all of whom seemed interested and several of them decided to join on the spot! I don't suppose the rather large bats we were holding at the time had anything to do with their decision :) During the first part of the evening Rhino gave a demo of PageStream 3.3 (to a rather bigger audience then he was expecting :) ). Does that mean thay were getting a bit too excited, Rob? Ooooer. He took us through the creation of the front cover and a page spread of a magazine. On the way he demo'd PageStream's text and graphic handling functions and it's powerful document structure system. For the demo Rhino brought along his A4000/060 PPC along and Sicky had his A1200T/040. After the demo we networked the two machines and played Quake death matches! Rhino's miggy had a slight (huh!) advantage......

Friday 19th June 1998

At this meeting Spencer gave us a very interesting Lightwave demo. Many of us had read about this powerful software but never seen it in action. It was good to see the application used in the production of Babylon 5 and Jurassic Park running at our meeting. Spencer took us through the basic functions of the program and demonstrated using some of the modelling tools and basic keyframe animation. After the demo we sat down and beat each other up deciding on a list of Essential Utilities, which you can now find in the Projects section.
